The book is excellent and I give it 5 stars.  It is better than the Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia books.  I was really happy to review this book because I’ve been to the Ukraine multiple times over 3 consecutive years from 2004 to 2007.   In addition to a review of the book, I’ve added information from my  experiences of living in the Ukraine.

 

 

 

I actually lived in Kharkiv, within a block of where Roosh lived 5 years earlier. So I found it especially interesting to see how Kharkiv changed in the 5 years. I lived in Kharkiv for almost 6 months and also lived over a month in Kiev, and spent additional time in Sumy, Odessa, Kherson, Nikolaev.  Kharkiv apparently has changed in the 5 years since I lived there.  I don’t remember seeing any Mercedes when I was there. Five years ago, I did not consider Kharkiv the “industrial shit hole” like Roosh did, so it may have deteriorated. I did not spend much time in the areas away from the downtown which is the nicest part. So if I had to go to the outlying areas frequently, I would agree it was a shithole, because those areas are.

I also agree the discos and bars in Kharkiv suck. Kiev is a good place for bars and Night Game, not Kharkiv.

The “Ukraine Background” section of the book is excellent and one of the best sections of the book.

I think Roosh was very smart to use the teaching English Game. I’ll have to try it the next time I’m in Ukraine. I honestly think 3 months is not that much time in the Ukraine. I agree 100% a month is needed to play the Ukraine. In 2 weeks you may get lucky. Most of the time it takes several dates to have sex with a girl. Three was my most common number, with one taking 6 dates!  The one that took 6 dates, I later found out she had a boyfriend and got married to him six months after I left!

Roosh states, “Ukraine is a poor country of rich people”

It sad and amazing to see that the country hasn’t gotten better. The bad part for the players is that there is a now a Ukrainian moneyed class that a foreign player has to compete against. Guess what? They’d prefer that rich crooked businessman over you, the traveling player!

Roosh is correct about students having to pay for grades.

My girlfriend told me she had to pay for grades in college, because college teachers are paid so poorly. The doctors are not good and medicine is backward. It’s a joke and a lot of treatment consists of no more than rest and massages!

Roosh calls it the “paint over culture”.

I called it the “facade”. Underneath the facade, the place still sucks!

Roosh nails it here, “Ukraine is composed of many onion layers of cheap covering. As long as people can keep buying paint in the form of fancy cars, bribes, and overpriced first world accoutrements, the foundation will be ignored and Ukraine will continue to be a raging shithole.”

Roosh states, Customer service, as Westerners know it, does not exist.  I agree 100%. They have no clue what it is and aren’t used to tipping. Their thought is “it’s your problem”.  When the taxi driver would drop us off at our apartment, he sit there while we took five minutes to unload all 10 bags of groceries.  It never crossed his mind that if he’d help us he’d  a tip!

I got better service because I frequented the same restaurants with my girlfriend and introduced our waiters to what a tip was. It also helped that she was pretty and friendly and there were no tourist, so they were fairly friendly to me.

Conning is the way people make money in Ukraine.  It’s the same in India, except India is worse.  There is not one single product of export quality made in the Ukraine.  In fact if an item was made in the Ukraine it was labeled to have been made elsewhere because, Ukrainians thought the quality of their own products was inferior and thus preferred to buy foreign products.

Ukrainian girls are obsessed with clothing;  leather jackets, boots, sexy slutty looking clothes. They think nothing of missing a meal or banging a guy to get some nice expensive clothing.  My GF wanted me to buy her a leather jacket that cost more than her YEARLY salary!  Of course I didn’t!

Roosh states, “America is a money-obsessed culture, but Ukrainians take it to another level. They see the potential for dollar signs in everything. As I later found out, the women evaluated my worth not just based on my personality or my ability to sexually please them, but on whether I could possibly provide for them in the future.”

Traveling players need to realize that offering a girl your dick is not a delicacy!   Most girls want more out of life than getting fucked by a traveling rogue!

A couple of years ago I took a college grad student back to her college to see a band at a bar.  On our hour and half drive, we discussed college dating and sex.  She stated, “guys at bars just don’t get it. They think by offering to fuck me that I should feel special.  They don’t realize I could get 100 guys a night to offer to fuck me.  If you don’t have something better than that to offer me, forget it!”

I tended to like the food a little better than Roosh and actually think Ukrainian food is good.  My GF made great varenikie, which is a dumpling which could be filled with meat, cheese, or fruit.

Roosh when he says that the girls “like drinks – those that can be lit on fire.”   On my first trip a girl turned me on to some drink where you snort it up your nose through a straw, then lit it on fire, then do some shot, and then drink the flaming drink after it goes out.  Within a half hour after doing this drink, she passed out in my lap facedown.  I doubt that was her first drink of the night!

Roosh states that Kiev has a sizable population of Turkish sex tourists, there for the prostitution.  This didn’t exist in Kiev 5 years earlier when I was there.  What I did find funny was that the same promotions girls promoted marriage agencies and whore houses too!  Looking for a wife and going to a whorehouse were both acceptable past times for the same gentleman!

One of my girlfriends told me that prostitution was illegal, which totally surprised me because it existed in the open.  In Kharkiv, every night there were a couple of prostitutes standing right accross the street from my apartment.  This was even in the middle of winter!

Roosh states that ONS or SNL only occurred in Kiev.  Yes, this was my experience too!  Apparently Kiev is wilder.

There were much fewer Turkish guys when I was there.  Kharkiv had almost none, but there were a few students there.

I met a young Jordanian man on bus who ran a business, that imported and sold merchandise.    He had a girlfriend in Kharkiv and one in Kiev too.   I would have hung out with him if I had stayed longer and come back to Ukraine.

I agree with Roosh on his analysis of English spoken in the Ukraine.  Kiev has more English speakers and that is where you should play if you want those girls.  There is a low amount of English in the provinces, but living is much cheaper.

Not knowing Russian you will miss out on more than 80% of the girls that can’t speak English.  These are also some of the poor ones who would be up for a rich foreigner to take them out.

I played almost exclusively on Anglophiles, like Roosh did too.

Roosh stated that you’ll need a month and the minimum is 2 weeks.  I totally agree.  I did two shorter trips and was not happy with my second shorter trip.  Don’t come unless you have 2 weeks to play and a month to get some serious action going.

Most girls are not trying to snag a foreigner.  They want only rich Ukrainian guys and as Roosh said a Mafia guy is the best catch!

Roosh states, “All those stories you hear of desperate Ukrainian or Russian women throwing themselves at foreigners don’t apply until she gets to the late 20s and early 30s, but by then she’s past her prime.”

“When it’s time for you to visit Ukraine, I recommend May, September, and October, though the temperature starts to drop in the second half of October.”  I was there from October to April, but it was the mildest winter in years.

Roosh states that apartments will cost from $500 to 1200 a month.  I paid about $900 per month in Kharkiv

Roosh says you need $1750 / month to live and play.  I agree 100%.  That is for a smaller city and Kiev will cost even more.

Roosh says Ukrainian girls are not the best looking, but dress and makeup add much.  I also agree they are very feminine and traditional and want to be treated like a lady.  This also includes a healthy attitude toward sex.

Roosh is not happy with the Ukrainian girl’s personality “The best way to describe a Ukrainian girl’s personality is that of a corpse.”  The ones I met were a little better.  In fact I thought some were pretty nice or nice con artists.

Roosh continues, “On the other hand, if you’re a chatty guy who likes feminine girls and can hold the line by doing most of the conversation before sex, you will be rewarded.”   That’s pretty much me.

Roosh continues, “An American girl can warm up to someone in 5 minutes to the point where it seems like they’ve been best friends forever. A Ukrainian girl takes five hours.” 

I was able to make friends easily with girls, but was in party environments.

American girls talk all the time bragging about themselves or useless shit.  This doesn’t get you any closer to bed with them though.  Just makes conversation easier.

Roosh continues, “eventually I got used to girls who don’t say stupid shit all the time or always feel the need to blabber about something. Ukrainian stoicism became comfortable when I realized there was no need to constantly fill in silences with meaningless chatter.”  This sounds great to me!  That’s why I like Ukrainian girl’s personalities so much!

Roosh states, “Ukrainian women are painful to talk to for the first couple of dates, while American women are painful to talk to all the time.  I’d rather have a mute girl waiting for me to speak than someone who thinks she knows everything about the world. Neither is perfect, but I’d choose the Ukrainian girl in a heartbeat.”   

Roosh continues, “Another notable personality trait of the Ukrainian girl is that she’s extremely skeptical and untrustworthy.”  I agree 100%. Why not?  You’re a sex tourist who will disappear, unless you can prove yourself differently!

Roosh nailed it 100% why Ukrainian women are so untrusting.  I won’t tell you why, but you can find out in the book.

Yes, Ukrainian women aren’t for everyone.  It takes a special kind of personality to mesh with theirs.

Roosh states, “Understand that unless you cross examine the girl and follow up on her statements, she will think you are naïve and gullible, a soft American that would get swallowed up in the Darwinian world of Ukraine.” 

I agree they will test your strength to see what you are made of.  One girl said to me, “Why are all Americans so dumb?”  This means why do all Americans believe everything we tell them and still kiss our asses?

Roosh continues, “Ukraine is filled with men who lie and cheat to a degree that you simply don’t find in America, where guys seem painfully honest in comparison.”  

Lying and cheating is standard fare in the Ukraine.  They say it is wrong, but they still do it all the time.

Roosh states, “Ukrainan women love modeling and modeling poses on dating sites, etc.”  This is common with many young girls in other countries too.  The only difference is the level of sluttiness in how they dress!  Normal Ukrainian dress would only be worn by girls at “Gentleman’s Clubs” in the West.

One of Roosh’s high points of the book is the following section:

Three types of men a Ukrainian girl would like to experience:  

1. a lover (fuckbuddy),
2. a potential husband,
3. a sponsor.

Roosh played as Type 1 man, which is the hardest place to play.  I played as Type 2 man, which is easier, but you have to convince them of your sincerity.

In Ukraine as in many other countries, sex is a normal function and girls like to engage in it.

There is some overlap in the 3 types of men and a girl’s best option is to find all the above men in one ideal man, which is usually Number 2: the husband.

It’s a great book.  Buy a copy!
